“Breakthrough” (ft. trap rabbit)

The first single off my debut album Irrational Actors.

Release date: Wednesday, August 10th

The music video :

About the song:

"Breakthrough" is a groovy milkshake of indie, jazz, and psychedelia-tinged sounds featuring the virtuosic Philadelphia alt-jazz duo Trap Rabbit.

Self described as “Philadelphia’s Premier Fake Jazz Group”, Trap Rabbit produced & performed on the song, bringing a lush keyscape and rich rhythmic textures to my guitar-driven sound.

This existentially-ruminative joyride is the first single off of my debut album 'Irrational Actors', distributed via Alpha Pup Records.

About the music video:

The “Breakthrough” music video follows the story of a working-class Grim Reaper on its daily soul-collecting routine. Next on its list of souls: an unsuspecting Logan Roth of Trap Rabbit, who’s on his way to a lunch date with his bandmate Arjun.

The grim reaper (played by Rachel Attebery) crashes the party, only to realize that it knows the host from long ago and gets a warm welcome inside. A third-wheel situation devolves into psychedelic absurdity as the reaper plots its next move.

Debut album

Irrational Actors” – September 30, 2022

After building a sturdy following over the course of 8 singles and a live EP, Kyle Sparkman is finally tired enough of people asking him about an album to put one out.

Irrational Actors is a 10-track album that features Sparkman’s unique brand of groovetastic indie funk as well as a mix of jazz-tinged psychedelic rock and tender guitar-driven sounds that have informed his playing and songwriting over the years.

Spanning 4 producers and 14 different musicians, each track brings its own brand of Philadelphia musical power to the table.

Live-recorded performances in various sets around Philadelphia and 2 narrative music videos will be released as a visual album alongside the studio recordings.
