About Kyle Sparkman

BIO: During a lightning storm in Philadelphia with Parliament-Funkadelic blasting in the background... Kyle Sparkman was thrust into this world with a raging-red bushel of hair and a guitar in his hand. As one stranger on the internet described, Kyle's music is "like Mac Demarco, John Frusciante, Tom Misch, and some disco rolled in one".

His live show is energetic. His lyrics are prophetic. His fashion sense is pathetic. Now he's on a mission to pollute the world's hearts and minds with a uniquely groovy brand of funky indie rock.

BACKGROUND: Kyle got his start in Philadelphia in 2016 as a hired-gun guitarist playing for singer-songwriters, rappers, and rock bands (while he worked on his own songs on the side). After moving to Lyon, France in 2018, Kyle went full force into his own indie-funk project and has released 7 singles, 1 live EP, and 4 collaborations to date. Most listeners discovered Kyle through his single Funk215, which was picked up on Discover Weekly in 2020.

About “All There”

So, 2020 was a dumpster fire, right? So much so, that we’re all sick of talking about it! So I’ll keep it brief.

With all of the existential angst, rampant injustice, angry online echo chambers, and everything else that’s been swirling about in our collective minds, existence these days can get overwhelming.

And that’s what this song is about—“All There” is a funky & gritty tune that takes the anxious zeitgeist of the past year, yells about it, and then funks off into the sunset.

The song was written & recorded by Sparkman in Philadelphia and was mixed by bass music wizard Kyle Bate (AKA Tiedye Ky who was also recently featured on thissongissick). With his electronic background, Tiedy Ky brought a unique energy to the mix all while keeping the live indie aesthetic of the song intact. The artwork for the song was created by Michele Scott, a local Philadelphia illustrator who has created multiple album covers in collaboration with Kyle.
